A few adaptations that the bird has developed in order to keep up with the conditions of the Amazon are:
- This bird's large beak even though it looks like it's for combat doesn't work that way. It not only helps the bird pick up food, attract mates, but also helps it regulate it's body temperature through blood flow adjusting. This helps the bird to not overheat in the warm, humid conditions of the Amazonia.
- Toucans have very strong toes to help them grip onto branches or hop across them with ease. This is needed for the bird, because it has an abnormally large beak and small wings, it is hard for it to fly.
- The colour of the toucan's feathers help it to blend in with the colourful canopy.
- Toucans live in flocks, so when danger is near, they warn eachother by croaking loudly.
